Why We Made Triphelper A Browser Extension

Triphelper is a free travel search tool that uses the location of any hotel or room on your favorite booking site to find activities such as tours, experiences, tickets, passes, and other things to do during your trip — all available to book during your stay, directly from the same tab using the extension’s popup menu.

You might ask why use a browser extension instead of a website. It’s a fair question but Triphelper was designed as an extension for the following reasons.

Unique User Experience

By making Triphelper an extension, it provides a lightweight and convenient option for users planning their trips by helping them find nearby bookable activities directly from a hotel or room listing page.

Triphelper allows users to browse activities from one page. To begin, click the Triphelper icon while viewing any room or property on a supported booking site. View a list of supported booking sites here.

The Tool vs. Website Approach

The Tool vs. Website Approach highlights how users interact with Triphelper. The goal behind Triphelper is to create a simple, free, and convenient travel tool that integrates directly into the browsing experience.

The main difference between building Triphelper as an extension rather than a website is its ability to quickly find things to do during your stay from the booking page, without leaving the current tab.

As a standalone website, Triphelper would lose this core functionality and become a standard booking platform, which does not align with the purpose of the tool.

Easily Integrates Into Your Browsing

As an extension, Triphelper can be easily downloaded and integrated into the user’s browser without requiring navigation to a separate site. This allows users to browse as usual and access the tool whenever it’s convenient for example, while viewing hotels and exploring what activities are available nearby.
