How We Use Your Data
Local Storage
All data listed above is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
API Communications
When you search for activities, TripHelper sends the following to our backend API:
– Location coordinates
– Travel dates
– Selected activity preferences (categories, distance, price range)
– Currency and language preferences
Our API then queries the Viator API to retrieve activity recommendations. We do not store or log this search data permanently.
Third-Party Services
Viator: We use Viator’s API to provide activity and tour recommendations. When you click on an activity link, you are directed to Viator’s website. Viator’s privacy policy applies to any interactions on their site.
Affiliate Attribution: Affiliate tracking parameters to support TripHelper. These parameters do not contain your personal information.
Data Sharing
– We do not sell your data to third parties
– We do not share your data for advertising purposes
– We do not track you across websites
The only data transmission occurs when you initiate a search for activities, and only the minimum necessary information (location, dates, preferences) is sent to our API.
Data Retention
– Local storage: Data persists until you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension
– Search cache: Automatically expires after 1 hour
– API requests: Not logged or stored permanently
